News from our DMC Alliance
Where is the music coming from? In Tortuguero, Costa Rica, music can be heard in a very special place: the Casa de la Cultura. Here, a small ensemble of dedicated students rehearses with great passion, keeping traditional Costa Rican Calypso alive while giving it fresh energy. But music is only one part of the rich cultural heritage of our Caribbean coast. To help preserve these treasures and make them more visible, the AKP Foundation of the Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group will now take the lead in supporting this inspiring cultural project. ARA Tours is, of course, delighted to join the initiative. Following initial improvements to the infrastructure, a small museum is scheduled to open at the beginning of next year. It will be possible to visit the museum as part of guided village walks. Initially, the experience will be aimed at small groups and guests travelling with a guide, and later also at independent travellers. We warmly invite you to support this musical project together with us and to include a visit in your travel programmes. In this way, we create meaningful and sustainable encounters, strengthen the local village community and give Tortuguero’s culture the stage it deserves.
The Latinconnect DMCs are using the current low season to further advance sustainability within their offices, contracts, products and customer communications. Local suppliers play a particularly important role in this process. How can they be successfully brought on board, and how can their commitment to sustainability be measured and encouraged so that suitable products can be recommended? To find out, we spoke with Lena Bartelt, Sustainability Manager at Neptuno Colombia Travel.
About a month ago, we launched the redesigned Latinconnect website. We would like to sincerely thank you for the many positive, as well as critical, comments we have received. As is often the case when introducing such a complex system, not everything ran smoothly at the beginning. Over the past few weeks, our team has been working intensively to resolve the reported issues and will continue to treat the correction of any remaining errors as a top priority.
