Yucatán Seat-in Trips
The join-in tour “Highlights of Yucatán” has been extended by one day since January 2023 (8 days / 7 nights), as we have added a highly worthwhile stop in Calakmul:
Together with El Mirador and Tikal, Calakmul is one of the largest Maya cities ever discovered. The Calakmul Biosphere Reserve is unique of its kind and boasts an exceptionally rich flora and fauna. As a highlight, we visit the once-powerful Maya city of Calakmul, hidden deep within the rainforest and accessible only via a narrow natural road.
On the evening before the visit, we stay at the charming jungle lodge Puerta Calakmul, located at the entrance to the national park. In the evening, we visit a nearby cave from which thousands of bats rise into the night sky — a fascinating experience!
Early the next morning, we travel to the archaeological site, whose original territory covered an area of approximately 30 square kilometres. From the highest platform of the main pyramid (one of around 100 monumental structures), you will enjoy an unforgettable view stretching deep into Guatemala.
We would also like to inform you that the minimum number of participants for the Yucatán join-in tours has been reduced again to 2 persons since January 2023 (as before the pandemic). This applies to the following tours:

Hotel tax increase in Quintana Roo
In our last newsletter, we informed you about this tax increase in the state of Quintana Roo; however, the date has now been postponed and rescheduled to 01/04/2023:
As of 01/04/2023, the hotel tax will therefore increase from 3% to 5%.
We will accordingly need to adjust our selling prices for hotels in Cancun, the Riviera Maya (including Playa del Carmen and Tulum), as well as in Bacalar and Chetumal.
