Nicolas Frühling (Sales & Product Department) from GAPA Travel introduces the seat-in trip “Highlights of Panama”.
Our 8-day seat-in trip “Highlights of Panama” has been one of the most popular packages for many years – not only among our shared guests, but also within our own team, especially the guides. Over the course of one week, the group enjoys a varied programme every day with extraordinary experiences – all in and around Panama City.
My personal favourite excursion is the visit to an Emberá village, one of Panama’s three indigenous ethnic groups. On this day, you leave the large, modern metropolis of Panama City in the morning and, within a very short time, immerse yourself in a world that feels like a bygone era.
Over the past years, we have repeatedly fine-tuned smaller aspects of the itinerary and logistics, always aiming to further improve the overall travel experience.
Unfortunately, the train ride from Panama City to Colón is no longer available until further notice. We have used this change as an opportunity to include a visit to Panama Viejo instead. This day – featuring a tour of the historic fortress of San Lorenzo on the Atlantic coast and the ruins of the first Spanish settlement on the American Pacific coast (Panama Viejo) – is now entirely dedicated to history.
Another new element we have added is a walk through Parque Metropolitano (on the day of the city tour). As one of the largest nature parks within a capital city, it is considered the green lung of Panama City. With a bit of luck, you may spot sloths, monkeys, capybaras or agoutis. A further highlight is the view straight from the “jungle” towards the skyscrapers of the modern city below.
