Colombia by Neptuno Colombia Travel
Colombia
Hardly any country offers as much diversity as Colombia – from Caribbean dream beaches near Cartagena to snow-capped Andean peaks rising above 5,700 metres. In between lie lush coffee fincas, colonial cities such as Bogotá and Medellín, the cowboy plains of the Llanos and the Amazon rainforest in the south.
Colombia is the only country in South America with coastlines on two oceans. Its regions differ greatly and are extraordinarily diverse both in terms of landscapes and culture. This diversity shapes the country’s character and makes every journey varied and exciting.
The population is known for its joie de vivre; music styles such as cumbia and vallenato accompany everyday life. Colombia is also a biodiversity hotspot and ideal for birdwatching, hiking or coffee tourism. An up-and-coming and welcoming destination with great potential for discovery.

Colombia fascinates with Caribbean and Pacific coastlines, Andean peaks, rainforests, colonial cities, coffee culture and dance traditions. Despite a challenging past, it is today a diverse travel destination known for its remarkable hospitality and richness.

There are direct flights to Bogotá from cities such as Frankfurt, Madrid and Paris, and to Cartagena with Edelweiss from Zurich. Medellín, Cali and Cartagena are also easily accessible. Domestic flights save time when travelling within the country. Numerous connections are available from North America as well. Google Flights is helpful for planning.

Best time to travel
The dry seasons from December to March and July to August are considered the best travel periods – ideal for the Andes, the Caribbean and trekking. Rainy seasons are April–June and October–November; the Amazon and Pacific regions are often humid year-round. Whale watching is best from July to October. Climate zones vary greatly, so regional planning is important.
Safety
Tourist areas are generally safe, but caution is advised regarding theft and fraud. Do not display valuables, use registered taxis and be careful at night. Avoid border regions and protests. Follow official travel advice and stay informed locally.
Health
No mandatory vaccinations upon entry; yellow fever vaccination required for national parks and certain regions, we inform guests accordingly with every booking. Standard vaccinations + hepatitis A/B recommended. Mosquito protection important (dengue, Zika, malaria). High altitudes require acclimatization.
